When I was eight years old, my mom would trek me once a month out to our local riding program. Through the back roads of our favorite coastal town, a small barn of goats, rescued horses, and happy humans fulfilled my horse fix. She used to help schedule lessons and do barn laundry in return for an hour of saddle time for me. It was a barn that focused on culture, and creating a space for kids and horses alike to find themselves and feel comfortable. I spent my summers mucking stalls and fetching lesson horses, alongside some of my best friends and favorite horses. Growing up at a barn that valued horsemanship and community has lead me to rely on my core values when creating the outline for Bay Haven and what I want clients to receive from my program, beyond riding and training.
Throughout my professional career, I have been lucky enough to clinic, ride, and train using a variety of different methods and within various disciplines. From the Spanish Riding School to Lucinda Green, the diverse training has helped me form a program that focuses on correct fundamentals and helping riders utilize the training scale within their own riding and partnership with their horse. Utilizing classical dressage has been one of the largest stepping stones for me, as I have found it most effective in building strong, confident, supple, and happy horses.
